Sarvam board approves $74M NVIDIA, Glade Brook tranche — a third figure for the same round
Sarvam AI's board approved a $74 million funding tranche led by NVIDIA ($25 million) and Glade Brook Capital ($20 million), with Gaja Capital and other investors participating, at a $1.51 billion post-money valuation. Entrackr, reporting the approval as an exclusive, frames it as an extension of Sarvam's ongoing Series B.
What this means. Entrackr's report does not say whether the $74 million is additive to the $300 million first close Sarvam disclosed a week earlier at its Epoch 2026 conference, or a subset already counted inside it. That leaves three publicly reported figures for what looks like one rolling round — $234 million on June 15, $300 million on July 30, and now $74 million on August 3 — without a single source clarifying how they stack. NVIDIA and Glade Brook do not appear among the investors named in the June or July disclosures, which suggests new participants rather than a restated total, but the overlap is not confirmed either way.
NVIDIA's participation is the more interesting line regardless of how the arithmetic resolves. A GPU vendor taking an equity stake in a company it also supplies compute to is a different relationship than a customer contract — it gives NVIDIA a direct stake in Sarvam's model-training roadmap at the same moment Sarvam has said it wants to scale to 10,000 Blackwell GPUs.
India angle. For the capital ecosystem, growth-stage funding into India's leading sovereign foundation-model builder keeps compounding, whatever the precise total. The valuation line — $1.51 billion post-money — sits close to the roughly $1.5 billion figure attached to the June round, another point that could support either an incremental-tranche or restated-total reading.
Behind the news. The archive already carries two prior disclosures of this round: Sarvam raised $234M at HCLTech's lead in June, and a $300M first close plus a 10,000-GPU scaling plan followed in late July. Each new disclosure has arrived from a different secondary outlet, none from a primary filing or Sarvam itself.
What to watch. A filing, an HCLTech disclosure, or a Sarvam statement that states the round's total size in one number and names all participants — the thing that would let the archive stop tracking three overlapping figures for one raise.

Confidence: Medium. Single tier-2 source; whether the $74M is additive to or included in the previously reported $300M is unresolved.

Anthropic brings in-country Claude inference to India via AWS Bedrock
Anthropic said it is bringing in-country inference for Claude to India through Amazon Bedrock, meaning enterprise requests get processed on servers physically located in India rather than routed abroad. Per Inc42's reporting, the capability is coming in the next few weeks, not live yet. Anthropic named Axis Bank, IndusInd Bank, NPCI, TCS, and Infosys among the enterprises it expects to move deployments forward once it ships.
From the room. "When that data can stay in India, AI moves from pilots into the systems that matter most." — Irina Ghose, Anthropic India.
What this means. Data residency has been the specific blocker for regulated-sector Claude deployment in India, not model capability. A bank or NPCI cannot route customer data through US-hosted inference regardless of how good the model is. In-country processing on Bedrock removes that blocker structurally, once it actually ships — the announcement is a stated intent with a coming-weeks timeline, not a live service to evaluate today.
The named customer list does the real work of the announcement. TCS and Infosys already run Claude at production scale through existing channels; Axis Bank, IndusInd Bank, and NPCI's AiNxt are the regulated-sector names that could not previously move past pilot stage on a foreign-hosted model. Whether any of them describe a production deployment that specifically credits in-country inference, once it's live, is the test of whether removing the residency blocker actually converts pilots into critical-path systems or whether other frictions were doing more of the blocking than reported.
India angle. For BFSI and govtech, this is the concrete instance of a pattern that's been building all year — foreign frontier labs adding India-hosted or India-region options to clear the data-localization bar that RBI-regulated and government workloads sit behind. For the SI layer, TCS and Infosys both get a data-residency answer for the Claude channels they already operate, which strengthens rather than replaces the existing relationships.
Behind the news. This extends a build-out the archive has tracked through the year: Anthropic's Bengaluru office opened in early 2026 with Irina Ghose as country lead, and India was already reported as Claude's second-largest market after the US; TCS partnered with Anthropic on regulated-industries deployment in June, provisioning 50,000 employees; and Anthropic introduced GST-inclusive rupee pricing for India in mid-July. In-country inference is the infrastructure piece that was still missing from that sequence — pricing and partnerships were in place; the residency answer was not.
What to watch. Whether Axis Bank, IndusInd Bank, or NPCI's AiNxt publicly describe a production Claude deployment, within roughly a year of in-country inference going live, that specifically names data residency as what made the deployment possible.

Position movements
| Dimension | Direction | Magnitude | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| Capital availability | +1 | 2 | NVIDIA- and Glade Brook-led $74M tranche lifts Sarvam's post-money to $1.51B; magnitude held modest since this may be an incremental close of the round already reflected in the $234M and $300M disclosures. |
| Regulatory clarity | +1 | 2 | In-country Claude inference on Bedrock gives regulated builders a clearer compliance path with a foreign frontier model, even though no regulation itself changed. |
| Enterprise adoption depth | +1 | 2 | Named production-track customers (Axis Bank, IndusInd Bank, NPCI AiNxt, TCS, Infosys) point toward BFSI and govtech deployments moving from pilot to critical-path once in-country inference is live. |
